Boots & Babies—new submission call for The Wild Rose Press’ Yellow Rose Line. Who doesn't love a sexy, rugged cowboy? And who can resist a cute, adorable, chubby-cheeked baby? But what happens when you combine the two? Commanding strength? Or total chaos?
Each submission should revolve around a cowboy and a baby (or babies) newborn to 18 months. The baby could be his or hers, a niece or nephew, a friend's being taking care of, or any other scenario you can think of as long as the story revolves around a cowboy and baby/babies. These stories can range from romantic comedy to more serious in nature and heat levels from sweet to hot (but not erotica for this line). Manuscripts should be 20,000 – 30,000 words in length. Please be aware that these stories will not be released in print. They will only be available in digital format. The Garden Wants Your Ghost Stories
Not the scary kind, the fun kind! Think lighthearted ghosts like Casper or Beetlejuice, movies like The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Just Like Heaven, Kiss Me Goodbye or Curtain Call (google those if you don’t know them!). Think lighthearted, whimsical, ghosts who play matchmakers or ghosts who try to keep couples apart. These don’t have to be romances, they can be mainstream fiction but we want good to win over evil and we want them to be fun. Story length is wide open – short stories or full lengths doesn’t matter. Send your queries in through the usual channels.
At times, everyone needs a bit of help. And love doesn’t always come easily. The historical department at The Wild Rose Press is pleased to announce Help Wanted, an exciting new arranged marriage series where cupid gets a little push.
Help Wanted stories should focus on the struggles of heroes and heroines who need a mate—fast! Maybe it’s the lonely frontiersman looking for a wife to help him settle his claim. The war widow who needs a handyman. The soldier eager to marry before heading off to war. The hippie posting a sign at Woodstock. Let’s not forget the Regency heroine thought to be past the marriage market, the lord who needs to sire an heir, or the heroine desperate enough to become a mail order bride.
An announcement or advertisement must appear within the first twenty pages to get the story started. Your characters may advertise on their own or have the advertised-for spouse thrust upon them. We are looking for fresh ideas and unique twists to bring about the arranged marriage rather than the same old tired plots.
Stories must be historically accurate and suited to one of the following lines: American Rose, Cactus Rose, Tea Rose, Vintage Rose**. Story length of all ranges will be considered, but we prefer to see 2ok and up to give the relationship time to develop. Please follow the general submission guidelines on the website for formatting and submit via firstname.lastname@example.org. “Help Wanted” should appear in the subject line, as well as your title.
**while this series was created with historical authors in mind, if you can find a valid reason and believable plot for a contemporary arranged marriage story, TWRP will gladly consider it for this series!

Lobster Cove is a fictional small town on the coast of Maine, near Bar Harbor. It is quaint and quirky with a colorful history, a friendly population of charming residents, and a vibrant tourist business. It is home to research scientists and small shop owners, grumpy cops and sassy chefs. Back in the day, it was a bustling fishing town and home to many immigrants, from both the state cabins and the lowest decks.
The Wild Rose Press is looking for well-written, engaging manuscripts from across all of our lines, from Historicals to contemporary. Stories can be romance or mainstream and can be sweet or erotic or anything in between.
Submissions must take place in Lobster Cove and also meet the guidelines for the individual line, including heat level and tone. For example, a paranormal must meet the guidelines for Black or Faery Rose and take place in Lobster Cove.
For authors who are already published with Wild Rose Press, the query process is the same as always. You may query your editor about writing a story for the Lobster Cove Series. Your editor will work with you and the line’s Senior Editor, as well as the coordinator of Lobster Cove (Lori Graham) to ensure your story fits within the guidelines of Lobster Cove.
If you are new to TWRP, please submit your story using our submission guidelines. Make sure you indicate you are writing for the Lobster Cove Series. Your story will be sent to the appropriate editor who will work with the Senior Editor and the coordinator (Lori Graham) on the story.
To maintain continuity across the stories, a basic layout of the town and names of landmarks and streets will be created. Once stories are selected and editing has begun, changes may need to be made to the stories for continuity of character names, events, etc. As more information about this is decided, notifications will be posted so everyone is on the same page. A yahoo loop will be created for writers serious about writing for this series. Please do not ask to join the loop if you are not serious about writing for this series.

Heroes take journeys, confront danger, and discover the treasure of their true selves. And the stories about these journeys are wanted by the American and Vintage Lines who are excited to announce a new series: American Heroes. Throughout history, people have made a difference, and we would like you to write a romance about these heroes. The hero/heroine can be a person in the military or one can be an everyday person who inspires someone, changes his/her world for the better, or displays heroic qualities that a romance reader would embrace. Think of Rosie the Riveter, suffragettes, a southern belle who saved her home, northern ladies who had Antietam at their doorstep, nurses and doctor who fought under enemy fire, firefighters during the Chicago fire. There are so many historical figures in our lifetime, and we at TWRP want to capture that spirit and share it with our readers. The stories can be 30,000 to 100,000 words. The time frame is anything from 1492 to 1992 (the end of the first Gulf War). Vintage stories can be set on foreign soil, but the hero/heroine must be an American. American stories can only be on American soil.
If you would like to submit to this series, send a query to firstname.lastname@example.org with "American Heroes Series" in the subject line.
The Boys of Summer
The boys of summer are ready to turn up the heat. These men live for the sweat on the ball field, the rip of the waves as they hang ten, the grit of a hot sandy beach, the full contact on a soccer field and scoring more than goals. Bring on the boys of summer.
BOS stories are summer themed with hot M/M action. We want to see the sun glistening of hot, wet male skin.
Send a query letter and a short description of your story to email@example.com with the subject line Boys of Summer Submission.
Guidelines for the series are as follows:
The heroine (i.e., Cougar) has hit or is closing in on her prime--she's hungry for a hot younger male with the stamina to satisfy every sexual craving. Sensuality can range from single to double rose rating though we'd love to have more double roses on the line. Length can vary from the shorter Rosette to a full length Rose. Adult relationships and no more than a fifteen year difference in age between h/h.
He’s ruggedly sexy in jeans, boots and a cowboy hat. He’s a wild mustang, dangerous and untamed. Men in this series like their lovin’ like the broncs they ride, rough and with a hard twist--it’s all about Cowboy Kink.
Rosette and miniature rose length – 7500 to 40,000 computer word count.
All stories must meet the double rose* rating.
Stories can fall into any genre so long as the cowboy element** is present.
*Double rose stories must include one or more of the following:
Extreme explicit language, anal sex, BDSM, fetishism, and/or ménage and more.
Submissions not reaching the double rose rating can still be contracted but will not be listed with the Cowboy Kink series.
**Wearing boots and a hat do not a cowboy make. These heroes must be men who work ranches, ride the rodeo, etc. Think hard working, sweaty, muscled, and rough around the edges.
We’re looking for Erotic Romance or *Erotica that focus on subs in training. They can contain any combination of m/f, m/m, f/f, m/f/m, etc.
We want to feel the Dominance and submission, the pleasure and the pain. Strap your heroine to a St. Andrew’s cross, let your hero feel the bite of a flogger or whip. Training can take place in a playroom, fictitious club or wherever playtime takes them. Break all the rules or make some rules of your own, just remember the TWRP no-nos.
Double and Triple Rose only.
*Happily ever after or the promise of one not required.
