    Millionaire's Club

Allie Blue's dream of buying the old Smithington mansion and turning it into a bed and breakfast is stomped by a mystery real estate developer with a fancy pen and loaded checkbook. With no bed and breakfast, Allie resorts to one small fib which lands her a flight attendant's job and the task of pampering Upward Airlines' most demanding frequent flyer -- Kiptyn Thomas, III. Something raw and potent snaps between them, but Allie fights the attraction for the guy who thinks he's at the top of the food chain. Kiptyn Thomas is used to getting what he wants, when he wants it. Allie Blue both annoys and intrigues him. Will some well-intentioned fibs, a deep dark secret, and similar personalities draw them together or keep them apart?

Every muscle in her body tightened when she approached him. Thankfully he was looking out the window so she had a moment to collect herself. She cleared her throat. “I hear it’s snowing back home.”

Kiptyn’s head snapped around so fast he should’ve gotten whiplash. His gaze connected with hers and a slow smile spread over his face. “I heard. The wind is going to pick up later this morning too. If you have any pull with the captain, could you have him get this thing off the ground as soon as possible?”

Allie tried to read him. He seemed friendly enough all right. His body language wasn’t as tight as hers and his smile appeared genuine. The biggest change she noticed was his attitude. He wasn’t demanding or acting annoyed. This was the tabloid-Kiptyn, the one the public loved. “Sorry, no pull. This is my fifth day as an attendant. Everyone on the plane has more clout.” She chuckled and waited for him to revert to mean ole Kiptyn.

Instead, he grinned. Not just a cheeky twinge that passed as a grin, but a full curve of his mouth complete with pearly white teeth.

An unexpected-warmth took her over. It started in her face, slithered down her neck, spilled across her breasts, and dipped lower until it found its intended target. Allie drew her knees together to fight the surge of delight.

A warning voice whispered in her head. He’s toying with you.

She took a mental breath and shoved aside the remnants of the convoluted attraction. In no way could she allow herself to think for one second that any of this was real.

Quirky, fun and sexy. What's not to love. Ms. Romes' charming romance kept me highly entertained on a cross country flight. With One Small Fib, she found herself a new fan.

Originally reviewed by JoAnne at Romancing the Book. This was a cute romance/chick lit story that kept me interested from the beginning. It had lots of laughter, romance, action, some tension and a happy ending that was better than I expected. I would have liked the story to continue a little longer just so I could see how Allie and Kip would interact in their new relationship and what new adventures they got into. Allie was quite a character in that she always seemed to speak her mind even when she knew better but I loved how real she seemed. Her interactions with Kiptyn were some of the funniest that I’ve read in awhile. I appreciated how Allie and Kiptyn seemed to play off each other and never knew what was coming next. I also liked that Romes gave some background information on Allie and Kip and how they grew up so differently from each other. There were some unexpected twists and turns that helped to tighten up the story and alleviate any loose ends. This is the first book published by Jan Romes and I will definitely look for more of her books in the future.

In "One Small Fib," Romes gives us a totally human heroine every woman can relate to. Allie Blue seems to know what she wants-- except perhaps when it comes to love. And who should walk into her life except a man least likely to be the one to make her happy? Wall Street mogul Kip Thomas has it going on, outwardly. But Allie triggers something inside of him he'd rather keep hidden away. Although neither Allie nor Kip want to admit it, they have a lot more in common than they realize. Their path toward romance lurches in a zig zag pattern that made me keep reading...quickly. I really enjoyed the ending, particularly when some shocking information about Kip is revealed that made me fall in love with him (sigh). Considering his thorny introduction into the story, that was quite a feat. Well done, Romes. Now I need a glass of champagne!

This story has it all! It's spicy, funny, intrigue, tension, and love! It puts a new light on how famous people deal with their lives! I thoroughly enjoyed the snappy comebacks and the friendships in this story!
